Enjoy the spicy and tasty flavors of Voodoo Shrimp Sushi This dish is a mix of New Orleans-style Cajun seasoning and the delicate art of rolling sushi. The soft shrimp, the creamy avocado, and the spicy mayo sauce all work well together to make a great taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 large shrimp, deveined and peeled
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 4 nori seaweed sheets
  • 1/2 avocado, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish

Instructions:

Cook sushi rice according to package instructions

In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt

Stir until sugar and salt dissolve

Once rice is cooked, fold in vinegar mixture

Let rice cool to room temperature

Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through

Remove from heat and let cool slightly

Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat

Spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving a small border along the edges

Arrange avocado slices and cooked shrimp along the center of the rice

Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, applying gentle pressure as you roll

In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil

Drizzle over the sushi roll

Slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife

Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving
