Blue Crabs with Chipotle and Lime Brown Butter Sauce

The blue crabs in this recipe are cooked in a tasty brown butter sauce with chipotle and lime. The bright flavor of fresh lime goes well with the smoky heat of the chipotle peppers, making a dish that is both rich and light.

Ingredients:

  • 6 blue crabs, cleaned and cracked
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions:

Set the butter in a big pan over medium heat and melt it until it starts to turn brown

To the pan, add the minced chipotle peppers and garlic

Cook for one to two minutes, until the garlic and peppers smell good

Carefully add the cleaned and cracked blue crabs to the pan

Saut for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring every now and then, until they are warm all the way through

Add salt and pepper to taste, then pour the lime juice and zest over the crabs

Add two to three more minutes of cooking time to let the flavors blend

Put the crabs on a platter to serve

Pour the chipotle and lime brown butter sauce over the crabs, and top with chopped cilantro

Serve right away and enjoy
